A lot of time can pass between check ups and physical examinations at the doctors office.  That’s why it’s important to know some simple do it yourself at home tests that you can do to help give you some clues about your health.  Dr. Oz’s “60 second clinic” consisted of a tongue test,

Acid Reflux Tongue Test

The tongue is the “window into the body”.  The tongue can indicate disease throughout various parts of your body.  In fact the tongue can indicate as far away as the stomach..  For instance, if you suffer from acid reflux your tongue will be discolored and give you an early indicator that you should see a physician to be treated for acid reflux.

  • A slightly pink tongue is normal and ideal
  • A yellowish tongue can be an indicator of acid reflux

Dr. Oz said that people don’t take acid reflux as serious as serious as what they should.  He said that you shouldn’t just tread acid reflux with antacids and not worry about it.  In fact acid reflux is responsible for the fastest growing cancer in America (esophageal cancer).  Acid reflux also ruins your teeth and gives you bad breath.

This is a test that Dr. Oz could relate to because it’s a test for your heart.  You should be able to sit down with your legs straight out in front of you.. You should be able to touch your toes with your fingers.  If you can’t touch your toes it could mean that your arteries have stiffened and you are at a higher risk for a heart attack or stroke.
