Dr. Oz & Dr. Joel Fuhrman Talks About Foods For Weight Loss – Adzuki Beans, Cashews, Pomegranates

Dr. Oz invited the ever popular Joel Fuhrman on to the show to talk about 5 epic diet mistakes that people are making every day.  During this segment Dr. Oz and Dr. Fuhrman talk about the foods to help you lose weight fast and a superfood that can help you to fight diabetes.  They talk about how adzuki beans should be in everyone’s kitchen cabinet and how this “superbean” can help you to burn fat faster!

Fight Diabetes With Pomegranates

Dr. Joel Fuhrman has written written many books about diet and health.  He is an expert in the field and has even written a book called “The End of Diabetes.”  On Dr. Oz he talked about one of the foods that he talks about in his book, Pomegranates that have powerful effects on the body.  Dr. Fuhrman explained to Dr. Oz that the benefits of eating pomegranates are huge.  He said that they have anti-cancer properties, can reduce your blood pressure, lower your cholesterol, and even fight diabetes! Pomegranates are not available to purchase year round so Dr. Fuhrman suggested buying extra when they are available and freezing the seeds.

Adzuki Beans Burns Fat and Speeds Weight Loss

Dr. Oz said that after watching this show and you only remember one thing, Adzuki Beans should be in everyone’s kitchen cabinet because they are a dieters best friend!  So, how and why are Adzuki Beans a dieters best friend? Adzuiki beans fill you up and your body doesn’t absorb all the calories.  So when you eat 100 calories of adzuki beans you are actually consuming less.  Much of the “carb” calories that adzuki beans contain will pass through you and are not broken down.  Adzuki beans will also help you to lose weight because they help to enhance they way your body burns fat.

Cashews Salad Dressing Recipe

Dr. Oz and Dr. Fuhrman both love the benefits that cashews can provide the human body.  Dr. Fuhrman said that you should get the majority of your fats from healthy sources like nuts and seeds. He said that fats from oils are absorbed faster into the body than nuts.  He said it can take hours to absorb nuts so your body will not store them as fat.  Your body will use the nutrients from cashews as energy instead.  Here is the cashew salad dressing recipe that was shared on today’s June 4, 2013 show.

Ingredients :

    • 1/2 cup of cashews
    • 1/4 cup of sesame seeds
    • 2 peeled oranges
    • 1/4 cup of white wine vinegar
    • squeeze of lemon juice

Mix all of the ingredients noted above in a blender and your homemade cashew salad dressing is done and ready to be enjoyed!
