Dr. Oz and Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary Talk About Ayurvedic Juice Cleanses To Promote Healing and Reduce Inflammation

Ayurvedic medicine has been used for centuries to promote healing, detox the body and cure illness and disease.  Dr. Oz has spoken about Ayurvedic medicine and the 3 Dosha Types in the past and how you can improve your health according to what body type you have.  During today’s show Dr. Oz and Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary shared 3 juice cleanses that will help to heal your body.

3 Ayurvedic Dosha Types

  • Kapha : These dosha types generally have a heavy build, slow digestion and are more prone to have allergy and weight gain issues.
  • Pitta : This is a warm body type.  Pitta’s are goal oriented people.  Skin rashes and heartburn can be a problem with this dosha type.
  • Vata : Usually slender, full of energy and creative types.  Health conditions that Vata’s are prone to are worry, brain fog and constipation.

“Flush Your Toxins” Juice Cleanse for Kapha’s

Dr. Chaudhary explained that even though we all are exposed to toxins on a daily basis, our Dosha type determines how our body reacts to the toxins.  The Kapha type is prone to accumulate toxins and this often leads to gaining weight.  This is why a juice cleanse to flush your toxins is so important..  Here is the recipe that was shared on today’s Dr. Oz :

  • 2 Apples
  • 1/2 medium red cabbage
  • 1/2 lemon

Mix the ingredients noted above and enjoy this delicious smoothie while flushing toxins from your body at the same time.

Reducing Body Inflammation Cleanse

Body inflammation reducing cleanses are excellent for Pitta dosha types.  Here is the recipe that Dr. Chaudhary shared :

  • 3 cups of diced watermelon
  • 1 English cucumber (medium sized)
  • Pinch of cinnamon

Blend into a smoothie and enjoy the inflammation reducing juice cleanse.

Skin Smoothie For Vatta Dosha Types

Dr. Chaudhary said that Vatta’s usually don’t need to lose weight because they tend to be slender.  However, a juice cleanse that has healthy fats and more calories is good for your skin.  Here is the recipe :

  • 10 Oz almond milk
  • 1/2 Avocado
  • 1 cup of cooked sweet potatoes
  • 1 tsp Ginger (grated)

Mix the ingredients noted above and enjoy your “skin friendly” smoothie.

How long Should You Do A Juice Cleanse?

Dr. Chaudhary explained to Dr. Oz that if you haven’t did juice cleanses before or if it has been awhile you should start slowly.  Try adding one of the juice cleanses in place of one meal during your day for 21 days.  Dr. Chaudhary recommended replacing your dinner meal because this is the best detox time.  She said that Vata dosha types should only do a cleanse for 7 days because they have thinner body types and are less likely needing to lose weight.
