Non Dairy Calcium Foods
Most people don’t realize that they are calcium deficient until deficiency related problems start occurring. People that don’t drink dairy may be at higher risk if they aren’t finding their calcium needs from other non dairy food sources. When you don’t have enough calcium in your diet your body will extract the calcium it needs from your bones and this in turn causes your bones to weaken.
Not only is calcium important for strong bones it also is important for a healthy heart, muscles, and nerves. Dr. Oz said that you should try to get 1,000 mg of calcium each day. Here are some of Dr. Oz’s favorite non dairy calcium rich food sources :
Spinach – Just consuming one cup of spinach will provide your body 1/2 of it’s daily calcium needs.
Sesame Feeds – 1/4 cup of sesame seeds will give you 1/2 of your daily requirements
Dried figs – 1 Cup of dried figs will give you 1/2 of your daily calcium needs.
