Dr Oz on Fat Prevention : Burn or Prevent Fat With Coconut Oil, Apples, and Red Wine

Dr. Oz is dedicating this week to fat prevention or new ways to burn fat that you may have never thought about.  You can burn fat without exercise if you know the right foods to eat.  Learn about what you should be adding to your diet to help melt away the fat that is keeping you out of that perfect dress or those jeans sitting in the back of your closet that no longer fit.

How Exercise Burns Fat

Dr Oz invited Dr. Eva Selhub (weight loss expert) on to the show explain how exercise helps to burn fat.  To help visualize the process think of when you melt butter in a frying pan.  As the pan creates heat the butter melts.  This is is similar to what happens when you exercise your body and creates heat.  This is the best way to burn fat but even if you don’t get the exercise that you should there are still other ways that you can melt away fat.

Coconut Oil Helps To Burn Fat!

Dr. Eva Selhub talked about CLA which stands for “Conjugated Linoleic Acid) is a supplement that helps to burn fat.  It is found in beef and dairy foods.  OUr body doesn’t produce CLA naturally so you need to consume it from outside sources.  CLA melts fat and you should see results i about 4 weeks (according to Dr. Selhub).

If  you decide to purchase CLA you should follow these guidelines

  • Look for CLA that is made with Safflower Oil
  • Dosage – 1 gram 3x per day
  • No diet or exercise needed
  • See a physician to make sure you don’t have diabetes before use

Prevent Fat With Red Wine

You body creates pyruvate when sugar is broken down in your body for energy.  You can reduce your fat cells by eating apples, red grapes, and/or red wine.  However, Dr. Selhub recommends taking a pyruvate supplement because you would have to eat or drink too much to get the amound that is needed for weight loss.  Here are the guidelines that were suggested :

  • 6 grams per day
  • Take for 2 months to see if it works for you
  • Add a healthy diet and exercise to your regime to boost metabolism and enhance weight loss

MCT’s For Weight Loss

MCT’s stand for “Medium-Chain Triglycerides.  Dr. Eva Selhub suggested adding MCT’s to your diet to lose those remaining few pounds to get you over that last hurdle.  She said that MCT’s are easily digestible and go directly into the stomach and liver for energy. She told Dr. Oz that adding MCT’s can help you burn an extra 100 calories a day and lose an extra pound each month.

Melt Away Your Fat With Coconut Oil

Dr. Selhub explained to Dr. Oz that coconut oil is a great way to add MCT to your diet.  She sugessted using coconut oil instead of butter or other cooking oils when cooking.  You can also purchase an MCT supplements.  Add 2 tbsp of coconut oil each day to your diet or take 10-20 grams of an MCT supplement each day.
