Dr. Oz and Deepak Chopra Talk About His New Book and Weight Loss Tips : Ginger Tea Stimulates Weight Loss

Deepak Chopra was the special guest on today’s (November 15, 2015) show.  During today’s episode Deepak (author of What Are You Hungry For) shares some insights on his life, including some of the own struggles with weight that he has encountered and overcome during his life.   He shares spiritual as well as medical advice for losing weight and keeping it off.  During the accompanying segment Deepak Chopra talks about what sweet, sour, salty, and bitter cravings say about your personality. Deepak Chopra’s Book “What Are You Hungry For?”

Deepak Chopra goes into detail in his book about some personal details of his life, including how he has gained weight during certain periods in his life.  He explained to Dr. Oz that according to the calendar he is 67 years old but biologically he is at least two decades younger.  He said that he lost weight without too much effort when he realized what he was doing wrong.  Deepak said that he was consuming food into his body in a mindless fashion, rather than eating to nourish it.

Two Questions You Must Ask Yourself

Deepak Chopra said that there are two questions he wants anyone who suffers from compulsive eating to ask themselves before they take a bite :

  1. Where is your feeling of hunger coming from?  Is it food or could it be something else?
  2. What is your hunger level?

Deepak urged people to question themselves when they are eating.  Be aware of the food that you are consuming and think about the true reason why you are doing it.

Lose Weight With Ginger Tea

Deepak Chopra said that ginger tea is a great way to lose weight.  He said that you can literally “drink yourself thin” by drinking ginger tea.  He said that ginger stimulates your metabolism and digestion.  It also gives you a feeling of satiety. Deepak recommended :

  • Peel and slice a piece of fresh ginger root
  • Steep in hot water
  • Drink two to three cups each day to boost your metabolism, improve digestion, and reduce your appetite

“Think Light”

Deepak Chopra shared a mantra with the audience to help you lose weight.  He said that when you focus on having “lightness” in your mind it will result in a light body.  Repeat the following mantra to yourself and you will notice a reduction in compulsive or impulsive decision makeing :

“I want a joyful, energetic body, a restful alert mind and lightness of soul”
