Dr. Oz Talks About Diet Lies That Make You Fat – Eating 6 Meals A Day Is A Dieting Myth

Today (April 21, 2014) Dr. Oz was talking about the biggest dieting lies that people fall for as they attempt to lose weight.   The first dieting myth is that eating 6 meals a day will rev up your metabolism to help you lose weight.  Dr. Oz and Dr. Joel Fuhrman also talk about some of the weight loss philosophies that Dr. Fuhrman writes about in his book “The End of Dieting” and how simple losing weight can actually be.

Dr. Oz conducted a poll in which he asked the question if people believed most of the diet lies that they have been told.  The vast majority of the respondents do believe the diet myths.  Dr. Joel Fuhrman explained some of the philosophies that are in his book, “The End of Dieting” about why diets are all about what will sell the best rather than what works.  Dr. Fuhrman said that most of the trending diets that are out there are more about what will sell the best rather than helping people to lose weight, improve their health and longevity.  The good news is that you never have to diet again to lose weight!

Diet Myth – Eating 6 Meals A Day Is Better Than Just 3

Dr. Fuhrman explained to Dr. Oz and the audience that eating 3 meals a day is the best way to lose weight.  He said that the popular myth of eating 5 or 6 small meals a day is a lie and can make you fatter.  He said that when you are constantly eating throughout the day your body never has enough time to burn through the fat stores. Eating so frequently will build up the amount of sugar that is in your liver.  Dr. Fuhrman recommends that you shouldn’t eat more than 3 meals per day.  He also doesn’t feel that you should be snacking in between meals.  Here is a typical day’s dieting protocol under Dr. Fuhrman’s weight loss and better health philosophy :

  • Breakfast : Apple pie oatmeal with flax and cinnamon mixed in
  • Lunch : Big salad
  • Dinner : Eat lean meats with lots of greens

Dr. Fuhrman said that under his plan you don’t need to be counting your calories at all!  In fact, he said you can eat as many calories as you want with each (healthy) meal.  You just have to be sure not to eat anything between meals so your body has a chance to burn through it’s fat stores.
