Eva Longoria Shares Her Chili Rubbed Steak Taco Recipe On Dr. Oz

Today Dr. Oz invited actress Eva Longoria on to his program to talk about her life, delving into topics like her divorce, health struggles, and how she is on a health mission to help others improve their lifestyle.  During this segment of today’s show Eva shares a delicious (yet nutritious) Chili-Rubbed Steak Taco Recipe.

Eva Longoria told Dr. Oz that many people believe the misconception that all Mexican food isn’t good for you.  She said that this is a myth because Mexican food allows you so many options when creating a meal.  There is always healthier options that you can make.

Chili Rubbed Steak Taco Recipe

Ingredients :

  • 2 lbs skirt steak
  • 2 2bsp chili powder
  • 12 corn tortillas
  • 1 cup of guacamole (chunky with Serrano peppers)
  • 12 wooden toothpicks

Preparation Directions :

  1. Braze grill grate with oil and set heat to medium high
  2. Sprinkle steak with salt and rub with chili powder on both sides.
  3. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes on one side and then flip (for medium rare).  Adjust cooking time accordingly according to your preference.
  4. Cut the steak into thin strips and place 2-3 strips across middle of tortilla shell and top with chunky quacamole.  Mold the tortilla shell into a triangular shape and keep it’s shape intact with a wooden toothpick.

How To Make Chunky Guacamole With Serrano Peppers

Ingredients You Will Need :

  • 6 avocados (they contain healthy omega 3 fats which are good for your heart)
  • 4 tomatoes (cut them into chunks)
  • 1 chopped white onion
  • 1 minced Serrano pepper
  • 1/2 chopped bunch of cilantro
  • 2 tsp of kosher salt
  • 8 tbsp of fresh lemon juice (this should be squeezed from 4 lemons)

Preparation Directions :

Mix up the onion, tomatoes, avocados, cilantro, lemon juice, and Serrano pepper.  Mix until blended evenly. Add to tacos and enjoy the chili rubbed tacos without all the guilt!
