Dr. Oz Flat Belly Food Plan – Eat Greek Yogurt, Mufa Meals, Berries, Ginger Iced Tea To Reduce Inflammation & Flatten Belly

Today Dr. Oz talks about his “Flat Belly Plan” and the foods that will help to reduce bloating, inflammation, and will flatten your belly over the long haul. Best of all, the foods on this plan are filling so you won’t be feeling hungry all of the time.
Flat Belly Food Plan
Dr. Oz invited on a woman who is an expert in this field. In fact, she is the author of the Flat Belly Diet! She explained that adding “GOOD” fats to your diet is one of the keys to helping you flatten your belly. She said belly fat (visceral fat) can be dangerous because it is tucked in and around our vital organs in the abdomen and this can cause a wide assortment of health problems. Another guest physician named Dr. Shawn Talbott said that the stress hormone Cortisol is one of the main culprits behind belly fat. Jaime Brenkus, the inventor of the 8 Minute Abs plan told Dr. Oz that everyone can have a flat stomach even if you have never had a flat belly before. He said that there are exercises that you can do that target your core and reduce bloating in your abdomen.
Foods To Shrink Your Fat Cells
Greek Yogurt – Dr. Oz said that the first step you should do to flatten your belly is to eat the right foods.. The first meal of the day is breakfast so you should begin your day by eating 6 oz. of low fat Greek yogurt before your meal. Dr. Oz then cited an exciting new study that has shown that people who eat Greek yogurt while on a diet lost 81% more belly fat than those who didn’t eat Greek yogurt. Dr. Oz said that Greek yogurt has calcium that prevents fat from entering your cells which ultimately causes your fat cells to shrink!
MUFA Meals – So what are MUFA Meals? Foods containing Mono Unsaturated Fatty Acids. Dr. Oz said that you should eat 3 MUFA meals per day on his flat belly diet plan. They will not only help you lose weight but they are also very good for you. Guest author Liz Vaccariello said that you should find your MUFA meals from plant based sources. Here are some suggestions that were given :
- Peanut Butter
- Safflower oil
- Flaxseed oil
- Canola oil
- Extra virgin olive oil (cold pressed)
With your MUFA Meals Liz said that you should include as many veggies as you desire, a lean protein, and a complex carb. Here are the guidelines that she suggested :
- 1 Lean protein
- As much vegetables as you desire
- 1 Complex carbohydrate
- 1 MUFA
- 350 calories or less

Mufa Breakfast Sandwich Recipe :
- 2 slices of Ezekiel bread will be the complex carb that is suggested
- Scrambled eggs offer the lean protein requirement
- Lettuce (veggie)
- Tomato (veggie)
- Avocado (MUFA)
Turkey Quesadeilla Lunch Recipe
- Whole wheat wrap
- Skinny cow cheese
- Black olives (chunky)
Chicken Pasta Mufa Recipe
- Whole wheat pasta
- All the vegetables that you want
Olive oil pesto
Anti-Inflammatory Snacks To Soothe Inflammation for a Flat Belly
Dr. Oz said that an afternoon anti-inflammatory is important if you want a flat belly. Dr. Talbot suggested that you eat a snack food that is high in flavonoids. Not only do flavonoids have a high anti-oxidant value they are also are anti-inflammatory. Here are some of the foods that he suggested :
- Fruits that are brightly colored
- Mixed berries with a little dark chocolate dribbled on top
- Yellow and/or orange pepper strips with a low fat dip
These high flavonoid anti-oxidant / anti-inflammatory snacks only contain approximately 100 calories.
Drink Ginger Iced Tea For Flat Belly
Jaime Brenkus joined Dr. Oz during this portion of the segment. He said that after you have reduce inflammation and bloating in your body you want your ab muscles to come to the surface of your skin. Here is the ginger iced tea recipe that he recommends :
Ginger Iced Tea Recipe :
- 3 tea bags of ginger
- 1 cup of fresh mint
- 2 cups of water
- Juice of a lemon
- 2 cups ice
