10 Detox Foods

Dr. Oz invited Dr. Alejandro Junger on to the show (author of Clean) to talk about how detoxing your body is beneficial to your health.  Dr. Junger’s detox plan is different than most that are out there.  Many detox cleanses make you feel like your depriving yourself because you aren’t eating whole foods.  He says that these detox diets are hard to stay on because of the food deprivation that you feel.  He says that most (60 percent) of the people who try his cleanse have long term success with it.  He says that you don’t have to add any exercise to your regime and you can still lose 1o pounds in a month!  He even discourages exercise for the first few days because your body will need the energy for detox purposes.  After the first few days on the detox you can resume your regular exercise routine.

  2. Gluten
  3. Soy
  4. Processed sugar
  5. Beef
  6. Pork
  7. Coffee
  8. Pop
  9. Alcohol
  10. Creamed veggies

  1. Green leafy and cruciferous veggie (go figure).  Dr. Junger called these foods as the “Kings of Detox”.  Cruciferous veggies include broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, etc…
  2. Cold water fish (salmon for example).  Cold water fish have the least toxins while providing an excellent source of Omega 3 fatty acids.
  3. Free range chicken
  4. Berries (high in fiber and will satisfy your cravings)
  5. Apple cider vinegar (good for your digestion)
  6. Lemon water
  7. Herbal tea
  8. Unsweetened coconut milk
  9. Coconut oil
  10. Protein powder (plant based)
