Dr. Oz Talks About Detox Recipes To Remove Toxin Buildup From The Holidays
The Holidays is a time in which families and friends spend a lot of time together sharing in the season. It also is a time that many people over indulge in treats, pies, large meals, and even alcohol. Many people feel worn down and stressed out as the “over indulgence” takes it’s toll. On today’s (December 9) episode Dr. Oz shared his “Holiday Detox” plan to help get rid of toxins in your body. He also shares a pickle juice hangover remedy, and how to boost your metabolism while enjoying some chocolate tea!
Melon and Coconut Water Flush
Bloating is a common complaint over the holidays. People consume too many foods that are high in sodium. Here his a recipe to help flush out the excess salt in your body so you can get rid of that belly bloat that has accumulated over the Holidays!
- 1 Cup of coconut water – The coconut water is high in potassium and potassium is effective at flushing excess sodium from your body
- 3 Cups of melon – Hydrating. Rich in water content
- 2 Cups of water
Mix the ingredients above and drink 5 cups per day
Oatmeal and Peanut Butter Detox Breakfast For Digestion
Often during the Holidays people’s digestive systems aren’t working at optimal levels do to the foods we have been eating. Dr. Oz said that combining oatmeal with some peanut butter will give your digestion a boost. The oatmeal is a natural diuretic to help flush toxins. The peanut butter is high in niacin which is excellent for your digestion.
Balance Your Blood Sugar With Lentil Soup
Do you overindulge in egg nog during the Holidays? If so, your blood sugar could out of balance. Dr. Oz said that lentil soup can help put your blood sugar back in balance. Here is the recipe that he shared :
- 1 cup of lentils
- 3 cups of chicken broth
- 1/2 onion
- 1/2 cup of celery
- 1 cup of tomatoes
Mix all of the ingredients noted above. This soup is low glycemic. If you buy lentil soup at the store be sure to buy the low sodium kind.
Cabbage and Grilled Chicken Salad
Do you have a sweet tooth that goes out of control during the Holidays? If so, try this Cabbage and Grilled Chicken Salad to help flush fat toxins from your body.
- 1 Chicken breast
- 2 cups of purple cabbage
- 1 orange
- 1 oz pumpkin seeds
- 3 tbsp olive oil
This salad is rich in protein and will help flush out the fat toxins that you may have stored from overloading on the sweets during the Holidays.
Boost Your Metabolism With Chocolate Tea
Chocolate Tea will help satisfy your cravings for sweets when you see Christmas cookies all around you. Chocolate Tea will also give your metabolism a boost. Have yourself a cup of chocolate tea after dinner or during a snack between meals to help keep your sweet tooth in check and discourage your from reaching for the cookies or Holiday treats!
