Dr. Oz Talks About Natasha Turner’s Hormone Diet Book and Different Hormone Body Types
Today Dr. Oz invited Dr. Natasha Turner (the author of The Hormone Diet) to come on to the show to talks about how hormones are responsible for for your mood, appetite, memory and even your weight. Natasha Turner explains how people have different body types and figuring out your particular body type is imperative to hormonal balance and better health.
What Is Your Hormone Type? Take The Test To Find Out
Dr. Turner explained to Dr. Oz and the audience that hormones are responsible for much more than people think. She said that a lot of people associate hormones with women and menopause. She said hormones are responsible for many functions in the body, so learning how to find hormonal balance is very important. Hormones like insulin, cortisol, serotonin, and estrogen are all hormones that play critical roles to our health. Dr. Natasha Turner said that external factors like the food chemicals in our diet, lack of sleep, and stress can all cause our hormones to be unbalanced. This is why finding out what hormone type you are is so important because you can learn how to get your body back in balance for improved health and vitality.

Hungry Hormone Type
Here are the questions that were asked on Dr. Oz that might help determine if you are the “Hungry Hormone Type” :
- Do you often have an increased appetite, and feel stressed or burnt out?
- Are you often bloated?
- Do you have sleep disturbances?
- Do you have acne?
- Do you have belly fat, love handles, or back fat?
Dr. Turner explained to Dr. Oz that if you have 3 or more of the above symptoms you are likely the “Hungry Hormone Type”. She said that hungry hormone type people generally have an insulin and cortisol imbalance. Cortisol (also known as the stress hormone) is associated with belly fat. Insulin tells your body to store energy as fat and can also influence your hunger, appetite and food cravings.
Moody Hormone Body Type
The next set of questions may determine if you are the Moody Hormonal type :
- Do you often feel irritable, tense, or frequently depressed?
- Do you have trouble concentrating and experience frequent headaches?
- Do you have body pain?
- Do you carry fat all over your body (rather than locational body fat, like belly fat)?
Dr. Natasha Turner explained to Dr. Oz that people who are the “Moody Hormone Type” generally have low levels or serotonin and dopamine, which are hormones that control your mood. She said that if you have low levels of serotonin and/or dopamine you may have a difficult time concentrating and it’s harder to stay on a diet. She said that if you have low levels of the “feel good hormones” you may also suffer from self-esteem problems and depression as well. Getting your feel good hormones like serotonin and dopamine back in proper balance can help to lift your mood and/or prevent depression.

3 or more of these traits can be an indicator that you are the sluggish hormone type. Dr. Oz said that people with the sluggish hormone type may be lacking the hormones DHEA and melatonin. These hormones help to control your sleep and how much energy you have during the day.
