Immunity Boosting Recipes on Dr. Oz – Goji Chili Stew, Super Seed Oatmeal, and Caesar’s Secret Salad
Today Dr. Oz invited Dr. Joel Fuhrman (author of Super Immunity) on to the show to talk about the “Super Immunity Diet” and how you can follow 4 simple food rules for increased longevity and highly optimal immune system. Eating the right foods are your best medicine to ward off disease and sickness. During this segment on the show Dr. Joel Fuhrman shares some of his favorite immune boosting recipes with Dr. Oz. All of these recipes contain ingredients that are included in the Super Immunity Diet and have the added benefit of helping you to lose weight at the same time.
Goji Chili Stew Recipe
Dr. Oz invited women on to the stage to give their testimonies of going on the Super Immunity Diet. One particular woman said that her migraine headaches that she has suffered from for years simply went away. She also noted the added benefit of losing 40 pounds in less than six months! Not only does this diet help keep you from getting sick, it will help you to shed those unwanted pounds as well! Here is the Goji Chili Stew recipe that was shared on today’s show.
Ingredients (6 servings)
- 1 1/2 cups of cooked red beans (you can also buy 1 fifteen ounce can of low sodium red beans instead)
- 1 1/2 cups of cooked pinto beans (or 1 fifteen ounce can of low sodium pinto beans)
- 1 1/2 cups of cooked black beans
- 3 cups of diced plum tomatoes
- 2 1/2 cups of corn
- 1 lb of chopped broccoli
- 10 oz chopped onions
- 2 large diced zucchini
- 1/2 cup goji berries
- 4 oz chopped mild green chilies
- 3 cloves of minced garlic
- 4 tsps of chili powder
2 tsps of cumin
Preparation directions :
Mix up all of the ingredients noted above except for the beans. Simmer in cooking pot for 20 minutes. After the 20 minutes add the beans and cook until hot.
Super Seed Oatmeal Recipe
When you follow the Super Immunity Diet you will begin to notice changes almost immediately. You will feel better right away but it will take several months before your immune system is functioning at it’s best. Dr. Furman said that you should eat a hot breakfast in the morning when you wake up. Dr. Fuhrman explained to Dr. Oz that he recommends whole grains because they will give you energy that will last. Here is the super seed oatmeal recipe that was shared on the show :
Ingredients (for 2 servings)
- 1 cup of old fashioned rolled oats (don’t use the quick or instant oatmeal varieties that have been processed)
- 1 cup of mixed berries
- 1 cored apple that has been peeled and diced into small pieces
- 1 1/2 cups of almond milk or 1 1/2 cups of unsweetened vanilla soy
- one quarter cup raisins
- 1 tbsp hemp seeds (ground)
- 1 tbsp flaxseed
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp sunflower seeds (raw)
Preparation directions :
Follow the directions on the old fashioned oatmeal package to cook but use the almond milk instead of water. Mix up the remaining ingredients and add to the oatmeal. Enjoy the super seed oatmeal immunity recipe!
