Dr. Oz May Diet Rules To Lose 10 LBs in One Month
Dr. Oz started the year off with a bang when he set out the guidelines for his Two Week Rapid Weight Loss Diet Plan. Now, with beach and lake activities right around the corner, Dr. Oz shared his “May Diet” guidelines to show you how you can lose 10 LBs in one month.. Just in time for all the summertime fun that lies ahead!
80/20 Glycemic Veggie / Protein Rule
The first thing that you will want to do on the “May Diet” is to shed your excess water weight. This can help you to drop lbs very quickly. Water weight is often due to eating too many carbs. This causes your body to retain water. Dr. Oz said that for every pound of carbohydrates that you store you can retain up to four lbs of water!! A quick remedy to release the bloating from water retention is to start out the May Diet by following the 80/20 rule.. This rule simply meand that you should eat 80 percent low glycemic veggies and 20% protein/fats at each meal.. Not sure what an 80/20 meal would consist of? Here are three examples to get you headed in the right direction :
- 3 cups of broccoli, a slice of avocado and red peppers along with 3 oz grilled chicken.
- A large salad with some steak strips.
- Vegetable stir fry with shrimp
Guideline #2 – Liquid Dinners
Heavy dinners take a long time to digest. The result is often bloating. At night your digestive system isn’t as active as it is during the day so a liquid dinner allows your food to break down easier and it will move through your system quicker. Your stomach will now be able to relax while you sleep and it will wake up rested and you will be much less bloated!
Note : You should still follow the 80/20 rule for liquid dinners… 80% low glycemic veggies and 20% proteins/fats. Examples of liquid dinners would be :
- Lentil soup
- Cabbage soup with ground turkey
Drinking water is wonderful in helping to aid your weight loss efforts. Dr. Oz’s “Swimsuit Water Recipe” will keep you hydrated and help you feel full, while also aiding the digestion process. Here is Dr. Oz’s antioxidant rich Swimsuit Water recipe :
- 1 liter of water
- 1 cup of strawberries
- Juice from 1 lime
- 1/2 tbsp of cinnamon
All you have to do is blend the ingredients above and you will have a full liter of swimsuit water to quench your thirst and aid your digestion all throughout the day.
Snack Only On High Fiber / High Protein Foods
If you have a snack in between meals make sure that it is high in fiber and protein. Protein will help you retain muscle with the added benefit of helping you to balance your blood sugar and burn more calories. Fiber will keep you feeling full in between meals. High fiber / protein snack examples would be :
- Turkey rollups with hummus and cucumbers
- An apple with nut butter
- Raspberries with nuts

Following Dr. Oz’s guidelines above will help you lose weight over the course of a month. Here is a bonus tip that can help you lose weight even faster.
