On today’s show Dr. Oz said that if you are having trouble losing weight, you could be having a problem with your metabolism. the good news is that you can do something about it. Dr. Oz said that if you can find out your “metabolism personality” you can figure out ways in which you can give it a boost.
The “Meal Skipper” Metabolism Personality
The Meal Skipper often skips breakfast and thinks they can double up on a meal later in the day because they didn’t eat in the morning. Dr. Oz said that the problem with this way of thinking is that your metabolism actually slows down when you do this. Dr. Oz said that it is better to eat throughout the day and the biggest meal should actually be at breakfast. He said that yo should eat a medium size lunch and a light dinner.
Dr. Oz recommended that you eat 30 grams of protein at breakfast. He said that the protein will help keep you satiated all throughout the day.
The “Loser / Gainer” Metabolism Personality
This type of person is generally all gung ho on a particular diet. They will be very strict and adhere to all of the rules to whatever diet program that they are on. They will lose weight effectively, but they eventually will leave the diet. when this happens they will typically gain all of the weight right back. Does this sound like you? If you are a yo-yo “Loser / Gainer” type of personality you should boost your metabolism first thing in the morning. Dr. Oz suggested that you :
- Drink one glass of orange juice first thing in the morning
- Take a 30 minute walk right after you drank your orange juice
Eating 6 Meals A Day Boosts Your Metabolism
The “Healthy Binger” is another type of metabolism personality that runs into problems while trying to lose weight. They feel that since they eat healthy foods they can eat as much as you want. They inevitably eat too many calories and will have trouble losing or even gain weight. Dr. Oz suggested that “healthy bingers” try to eat 6 times a day.
