On today’s show Dr. Oz talked with Haylie Pomroy (The Metabolism Whisperer) about a Metabolism Checklist to make sure your metabolism is working properly or if it needs a boost and how you can lose 20 LBs in just 4 weeks by balancing your hormones and making a few simple changes to your diet.

Haylie Pomroy (a nutritionist) says that you can if you follow her plan to jump start your metabolism.  Haylie told Dr. Oz that food should be viewed as a medicine and the answer for weight loss rather than a problem that is preventing your weight loss.

Haylie Pomroy told Dr. Oz that fat regulating hormones are produced in the adrenal glands.  She said that if you calm down your adrenal glands and get them out of crisis mode you can balance the cortisol (aka “The Stress Hormone”) in your body.  In doing so, your body will burn calories for energy rather than store them as fat.  Healthy carbohydrates can help to calm your adrenals and balance your cortisol.  Here are the healthy carbohydrates that they recommended on today’s show :

  • Couscous
  • Fruits like mangos and pineapples that contain natural sugars

Dark Green Vegetables Are Anti-Inflammatory, Reduce Bloating, and Release Fat

Building muscle and releasing the fat stores in your body will also help you lose weight.  Foods like turkey, fish, and chicken should be included in your diet. Green veggies like kale, cabbage, and broccoli help to reduce bloating because they have anti-inflammatory properties and help to remove fat stores.
