How To Prevent Binge Eating

So you are doing wonderful on your diet.  You are losing weight, getting in some exercise, and then you suffer from a late night (or party) bing eating episode.  You are then left feeling defeated and like all your hard work has been for naught.  Sound familiar?  Here are some tips that Haylie Pomrove gave Dr. Oz on today’s April 9th, 2013 episode :

Tips For Overcoming The “Late Night Binge” – Haylie Pomrov said that if you have a late night binge to not panic.  Be sure to eat a lot of citrus fruits the next day.  Especially grapefruit, oranges, and limes.  These fruits will help to reduce swelling, inflamation, and will stimulate your digestion and reduce the damages done from your late night binge.

Party Binge – Ever overeat at a party? Most of us has.  Haylie told Dr. Oz that she suggests that people eat 10 to 15 grams of lean protein every 2 hours before the party.  This way you won’t be hungry and your blood sugar should be stabilized.

Salt Cravings – Haylie Pomroy (a nutritionist) told Dr. Oz that salt cravings may mean that your thyroid isn’t functioning as well as it should.  If you go overboard on the salt you should eat foods that are diuretics.  Diuretic foods to reduce bloating are cucumbers, cilantro, cabbage, Asian pears, and beets.  Another remedy that is helpful for bloating is dandelion leaf tea.Be sure to Like “Fans of Dr. Oz” on Facebook to view daily show summaries in case you weren’t able to tune in to the show.
