Teriyaki with Kombu and Shrimp, Seaweed Spinach Artichoke Dip, and Mint Chocolate Chip Shake Recipe

Today Dr. Oz was talking about the health benefits of Seaweed and how it can help to boost your immunity.  During the followup segment Dr. Oz shared immunity boosting recipes such as Teriyaki Stir Fry with Kombu and Shrimp, Seaweed Spinach Artichoke Dip, and a Mint Chocolate Seaweed Shake recipe.  Listed below are the recipes that were shared :

Teriyaki Stir Fry Recipe with Kombu and Shrimp

Ingredients :

  • 7 oz of shrimp
  • 3 Kombu kelp
  • 1/2 cups of chopped onions
  • 1/2 cups of chopped carrots
  • 1/2 cup of chopped broccoli
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp of Mirin (Mirin is a sweet rice seasoning that you can find in grocery stores)

Preparation directions :

    1. For approximately 30 minutes soften the kombu by soaking it in water
    2. The kombu comes in strips, so cut it into squares
    3. Cook shrimp in a skillet (with extra virgin olive oil)
    4. Add broccoli, chopped onions, carrots, and kombu kelp

Stir all of the ingredients and once the veggies are tender add 2 tbsp of soy sauce and 1 tbsp of mirin

Seaweed Spinach Artichoke Dip

Recipe Ingredients :

    • 1 frozen spinach package (choose a chopped spinach variety)
    • 1 14oz jar of chopped and drained artichoke hearts (marinated)
    • 1 1/2 cups of parmesan cheese
    • 3/4 cups of mayo
    • 3/4 cups of sour cream
    • 2 tbsp dried wakame seaweed

2 tsp minced garlic

Preparation directions :

  1. Thaw and squeeze dry the spinach
  2. Set the oven to 375 degrees and preheat
  3. Spray a casserole dish with cooking spray
  4. Mix artichoke hearts, spinach, seaweed, Parmesan, garlic, sour cream, and mayo.
  5. Bake 20-30 mins

Mint Chocolate Chip Seaweed Shake

This recipe calls for the following ingredients :

  • Handfull of spinach
  • 1 tbsp of wakame seaweed
  • 1 cup of nut milk
  • 2 tbsp of fresh mint
  • 2 bananas (frozen)
  • 2 tbsp of cacao nibs (you can also use cocoa powder)
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation directions :

  1. Soften the wakame seaweed by soaking it for 10 minutes
  2. Add the spinach and 2 tablespoons of fresh mint to a blender and mix
  3. Mix in the remaining ingredients and blend
  4. Enjoy your chocolate mint seaweed smoothie!
