Dr. Oz Talks About Brain Tumor and Diabetes Symptoms

Today’s “Alarmist Guide” episode that was aired on Oct. 24th, 2013 was all about hypochondriac’s who always fear the worst.   During the prior segment Dr. Oz talks about breast pain and chronic coughs and if they are symptoms of something more serious and signs that you should immediately go see a doctor.  During this segment of the show Dr. Oz talks about tension headaches and if this symptoms could be a sign of a brain tumor.  Could chronic thirst really be a symptom that you may have diabetes?

Are Chronic Headaches A Sign Of A Brain Tumor?

Usually not.  Dr. Oz said that in most cases chronic headaches are usually caused by tension.  Dr. Oz posted two questions on the television screen that you should ask yourself if you suffer from chronic headaches.  They were :

  1. How long have you been having headaches?
  2. What time of day do you usually experience these headaches?

Dr. Oz said that if you are experiencing your headaches in the middle of the afternoon it is probably a tension headache.  He would be more concerned if you were having these headaches in the middle of the night.  If you are awakened during your sleep with headaches you should go see a doctor.

Headache At Home Self Test

When most people experience a headache it is usually nothing to be overly concerned about.  In most cases it is a tension headache.  However, there is a self test that you can take during one of your headaches.  Dr. Oz said to :

  • While standing up drop your upper torso and head a little below your waist level

Does this cause your headache to get worse?  If so, Dr. Oz said that there is a chance it could possibly be more than a tension headache and you should go see your doctor to rule out a more serious illness, like a brain tumor.

Is Chronic Thirst A Symptom of Diabetes?

Are you experiencing chronic thirst and afraid that you could have diabetes?  Here are the questions that Dr. Oz posted that you should ask yourself?

  • How frequently do you get thirsty?
  • How many times do you have to go to the bathroom?
  • Do you have to get up to pee during the night?

Dr. Oz said that if you have diabetes you would have to get up to pee many times during the night.  If you are experiencing chronic thirst it just may be that you are dehydrated.  Dr. Oz said that for many people who experience these symptoms it is because they are drinking caffeinated sodas and juice instead of water.  Soda’s can keep your body from holding on from water and dehydrate you.  If this sounds like you, the next time you are thirsty grab a bottle of water instead of soda pop and see if this helps to quench your thirst.
