Dr. Oz : Tony Horton’s Food Rules, Re-Shake Recipes, and 10 Minute Miracle Workout
Today Dr. Oz brought on fitness guru Tony Horton on to the show to talk about food rules that you should follow as well as a customized 10 minute miracle workout that Tony created for the Dr. Oz audience and viewers at home. Most of us have incredibly busy lives with family, work, commitments, etc… Some people say that they don’t exercise because they just don’t have the time. However, most people can find 10 minutes throughout the course of their entire day to devote to some exercise. Tony shares his custom 10 minute miracle workout that can give you real results in just 10 minutes a day!
Tony Horton’s Grocery List & Food Rules To Reshape Your Body
Tony Horton explained to Dr. Oz that he doesn’t rely on exercise alone to get him into optimal shape. Diet also plays a key role and following key food rules can help you reshape your body and improve your overall health. Tony Horton explained to Dr. Oz that you should take 25 seconds out of your day to write down a grocery list before you go to the store. This will help you to stay focused on the healthy foods and not through junk food into your cart impulsively. Here are the food rules that Tony Horton shared on the August 14, 2013 Dr. Oz episode :
- Buy foods that contain only 1 ingredient – Buying whole foods or foods with the fewest amount of ingredients as possible is important in maintaining a healthy diet. Tony gave the example of eating yogurt instead of ice cream.
- Eat dirty snacks – Tony explained to Dr. Oz that one of the food rules that he follows is that he allows himself “dirty snacks”. He said that if yo eat 3 healthy meals throughout the day you can allow yourself a “cheat food” like a chocolate chip cookie for example.
- Reshake your body – Tony adds variety to his diet by replacing a meal with a healthy shake on occasion.
Re-Shake Your Body Recipe by Tony Horton
- 1/2 of a banana
- 1/2 scoop of whey protein powder
- 1/2 cup of frozen berries
- 4 oz of almond milk
- 1/2 cup cashews
- 8 ounces of water (or coconut water)
Blend all of the ingredients listed above for a delicious and healthy shake. Try having a “re-shake” in place of one of your meals.
90 percent of the foods that you should eat under Tony’s 90/10 plan should be whole foods like fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean meats, and heart healthy fats.
10 Minute Miracle Workout
You may have heard Tony Horton say to just “Press Play”. This is one of the ways that he encourages his viewers to get up and exercise even though they may not be motivated at the time. Once you get moving the motivation will come. On today’s (August 14, 2013) show Tony enlisted the help of several women and Dr. Oz to perform the 10 minute miracle workout on stage during the show. Tony shared 5 exercises that you should do each day for 1 minute. After you are done with the 5 exercises do them one more time for a total of 10 minutes!
- Flying elbows
- Hop squats
- Think drills
- Hop Skate
- Football drills
