Dr. Oz Talks About Spider Vein Compression Stockings and Spray Tans In A Can

Spider veins (varicose veins) are very common, especially amongst women.  Many women feel self conscious and shy away from wearing shorts or engaging in outdoor activities.  Today Dr. Oz shared a few low cost solutions to help treat the appearance of spider veins so you can enjoy your life with more confidence and security.

What Causes Spider Veins?

Dr. Oz said that for many women spider veins are hereditary, but there are also several other reasons why they occur.  Pregnancy, weight gain, or constantly standing for long periods of times can cause these varicose veins.  However, there are some cheap ways (that don’t require surgery) to help minimize the appearance of spider veins.  Here are the tips that Dr. Oz mentioned from today’s show :

Compression stockings – While these aren’t a permanent cure, compression stockings are fashionable and the “compression” helps the circulation in your legs.  The price range is generally between $30.00 and $60.00.

Spray tan in a can – Simply applying spray tan to your legs help to diminish the appearance of spider veins. Spray tans last for up to a week and can be purchased for around 10 dollars in stores.

Dr.’s Office Procedures For Spider Veins

If you don’t want to settle for a “temporary fix” you can opt for a longer term solution by going to see a doctor and have a spider vein procedure performed.  Dr. David Greuner appeared on the show to talk about office treatments that are effective and best of all, the procedures are painless!  Dr. Greuner said that spider veins are a very treatable ailment and the procedures that are out there are effective.  Here are the guidelines that Dr. David Greuner gave on Dr. Oz :

  • Works best on smaller veins
  • Spider vein office treatments are permanent
  • You usually need two procedures performed
  • $200-500 per session depending on your location
