Dr. Oz Talks About The Types Of Cancer Caused By HPV

Would you be shocked if you knew that 4 out of 5 people will have been infected by the time that they turn 50 years old?  This startling statistic is shockingly true.  Today Dr. Oz talks about hpv vaccines, and tests that you should have done to protect yourself from the virus that can raise your risk for getting certain cancers such as cervical, anal, penile, vaginal, vulvar, and oral cancers.  During this segment Dr. Oz answers that are frequently asked such as “What should I do if I have HPV?” and “What I can do to get rid of this virus?”

Don’t Panic If You Have HPV?

Dr. Oz invited Dr. Diane Harper on to the show to share important information about HPV.  One question that concerned patients commonly ask is “What should I do if I have HPV?”  The first thing you should do is not panic!  Dr. Diane Harper said that having awareness about the 8 cancers that you could be at risk for is important.  Early detection is key in being able to treat these diseases while they are treatable.

Dr. Harper said that you should always show up to your scheduled screenings and tests.  She helped to calm fears by saying that 90 percent of HPV infections that people contract will clear up on their own without any sort of treatment at all.  Pre cancerous symptoms will only occur in about 5 percent of HPV cases.  With early detection they are treatable and curable.

Can You Get Rid Of HPV?

In most cases your body can remove HPV from your body and prevent pre-cancerous symptoms from occurring.  So, how do you get rid of HPV? Dr. Jennifer Ashton explained to Dr. Oz and the audience that the best thing you can do to get rid of HPV is to keep your immune system strong.

    • Cervical cancer
    • Vaginal cancer
    • Vulvar cancer
    • Oral cancer
    • Penile cancer
    • Anal cancer
