Dr. Oz – Year Without Sugar – Sugar Free Banana Ice Cream and Homemade Mayonnaise Recipe

Have you ever thought about giving up sugar entirely?  That’s what one woman and her family did while keeping a memoir documenting it all (Year of No Sugar).  What they found was that while it was hard at first, it soon became much easier.  On April 7, 2015 episode Dr. Oz sat down with Eve Schaub to talk about her journey and what message that she has for others who would like to follow in her footsteps.  Dr. Oz and Eve also share a sugar free banana ice cream and homemade mayo recipe that helped her family experiment a lot easier.

Was It Hard Giving Up Sugar?

Eve Schaub explained to Dr. Oz that in the beginning of her journey it was difficult in the beginning but then it became much easier.  She said that once a month her family agreed that they would indulge in something sweet once per month.  What they found was that it wasn’t as enjoyable as they had thought it would be.  Dr. Oz said that it wasn’t as enjoyable because their palates had changed after not having sugar for awhile.   Dr. Oz said that when you remove sugar from your diet your taste buds quickly begin to change.  You will notice that you begin to enjoy foods that are naturally sweet much more and added sweeteners like sugar will actually taste too sweet and your cravings for them will go away.
